TOUR OVERVIEW


Visit the site of the ancient kingdom of Sukhothai on a two day trip from Chiang Mai and explore temple ruins as well as ancient historical sites. During the two-day tour we will also visit major temple sites in the cities of Lamphun, Lampang, Phitsanulok as well as the ancient temple structures in the Srisanchanalai Historical Park.

TOUR DESCRIPTION


Day 1
We will pick you up from your accommodation in Chiang Mai and begin the drive southwards to the city of Lampang. Once in Lampang, we will stop and visit Wat Prahthat Lampang Luang, one of the city’s most beautiful and import temples. After our stop at Wat Lampang Luang, we will resume our drive towards Sukhothai, where we will have lunch. In Sukhothai, we will take the rest of the afternoon to explore the old city and its impressive series of ancient temples and temple ruins within the Sukhothai Historical Park. Your team will finally transfer you to your Sukhothai hotel.

Day 2
We will pick you up from your accommodation in Sukhothai and start the drive east to the city of Phitsanulok. Once arrived, we will enter an important Phitsanulok temple, Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat, as well as the interesting foundry specialized in the manufacturing of Buddha images. After our visit in Phitsanulok, we will head north to Srisanchanalai, another historically important site of the Thai Kingdom and home to several old temples and temple ruins dating back from the Sukhothai period. Your last stop before driving back to Chiang Mai will be at the charming small city of Lamphun. Here, you will visit the most important temple in Lamphun: Phra That Haripoonchai Lamphun. We will then drive to Chiang Mai and drop you off at your hotel.

Groups
This tour is conducted as a privately escorted tour only you will be supplied with your own tour guide and private vehicle . Sorry there are no group departures for this programme.


Transport

Transfer
This tour includes transfer to and from your Chiang Mai hotel. Please be ready and waiting in the lobby of your hotel before the pick up time specified on your booking confirmation. Please specify your hotel and its address on the booking form. If you do not have a hotel booked we can still process your booking but please inform us of your hotel at least 3 days prior to departure. For private tours we can arrange transfers to and from all hotels (an extra charge will usually be incurred for outlying hotels). If there are any issues with your specified hotel we will inform you before we ask for payment and process your booking.

No accommodation is included in the above package tour, You are free to make your own arrangements or we can arrange accommodation for you with one of our contracted hotels.

Guides
This tour is conducted with an English speaking guide. The guides will be TAT licensed (Tourist Authority of Thailand)

Insurance
A limited amount of accident insurance is provided to cover some medical bills in case of an injury but it is advised that you have your own comprehensive accident insurance.

Dress Codes and what to wear

• The Northern Thailand climate is hot all year round. Wear light, cool clothes: Shorts (or long pants if you prefer), T shirt and a sun hat are ideal attire.

• On this tour you will be visiting Buddhist temples, respectful and neat dress is always appreciated at temples, please wear knee length shorts and a shirt which covers your shoulders

• Please be prepared for the occasional shower, luckily in Chiang Mai rainfall is mostly confined to short showers rather than prolonged rainfall. A lightweight easily packable raincoat is an ideal precaution

• No swim wear is required on this tour

Fitness
Exertion levels are light on this tour with a few short walks between attractions. There are steps and slope, there is also an option to hire bicycles at Sukhothai Historical Park if your prefer cycling to walking.
