Elephant welfare
The elphants you will care for on this tour live in a small elephant camp beside the Mae Tang River. Blugecko believe the elephant owners provide a good standard of elephant welfare but please note the following:

• On numerous inspection trips we have never seen a bull hook or a bull hook being used but the elephant owners, however the owner does inform us a bull hook is used on rare occasions to ensure control and safety of both the elephant and client
• No riding is done on the elephants here however clients are allowed to climb upon the elephants backs during the bathing session in the river and clients are allowed to sit up on the elephants neck briefly .

Please be aware and understand the above if you are uncomfortable with any use of the bull hook then please do not do not book this tour
if you have any further questions on the elephant welfare on this trip please ask us.

Dress Codes and what to wear

• The Northern Thailand climate is hot all year round. Wear light, cool clothes: Shorts (or long pants if you prefer), T shirt and a sun hat are ideal attire.

• Please be prepared for the occasional shower, luckily in Chiang Mai rainfall is mostly confined to short showers rather than prolonged rainfall. A lightweight easily packable raincoat is an ideal precaution

• You will get wet during the rafting bamboo and white water rafting so swim wear is required. There is also an option to swim at the waterfall

Fitness
Exertion levels are medium on this tour there will be around 1.5 hours of trekking up and down rough tracks in a hot climate
